Volunteers & Job Openings
 
 
 The following is a list of key positions that need to be filled in order to hold any local or rally race. If you are interested in any of these positions or want more information, contact the race director.

Race Director - The race director is responsible for everything in the race from planning to paperwork.This person must appoint other officials and delegate authority to them.

Assistant Race Director The assistant race director is also responsible for everything in the race from planning to paperwork.

Safety Official - This person is responsible for overseeing all safety issues in running an SBD race. This includes but is not limited to the following areas: pit, starting line, track, finish line, braking (runout), Return vehicles and trailers, the return road and/or path, and the spectators viewing area.

Transportation Drivers - Responsibilities include driving the vehicle(s) that pulls the trailer and assisting in the loading and unloading of cars from trailers when required by car owners or handlers.

Positions at Bottom of Hill:

Weigh Master - The weigh master is in charge of weighing all cars and drivers before the race begins and throughout the day. The weigh master has complete authority to make decisions and settle disputes about weight.

Pit Director - The pit director calls cars to the staging area and oversees elimination brackets. This person is also responsible for wheel swaps.

Run-Out Officials - Responsibilities include helping drivers get out of their cars, making sure run-out area is clear before the next race is started and making sure that safety bumpers or cones at end of hill are in place at all times. Manages runout volunteers. Makes sure all cars are strapped and secured on trailer. Secures all racers are in seats inside the tow vehicle at all times

Car Loaders - Makes sure all cars are strapped and secured on trailer.

Postions in the Timing & Scoring Tent:
  
 Timer - This person must have radio contact with starter and all heat chart recorders. The timer resets the timer before each race and gives clearance to the starter to release the cars. 

Announcer - The announcer calls out car numbers, lanes, and driver's names to spectators and drivers before each race.

Chart Recorder - These persons keeps accurate and timely race data heat charts.

Record Keeper - Responsibilities include keeping official records of each race, conducting heat and lane drawings, and verifying lanes, car numbers and names of drivers.

Postions at the Top of the Hill:

Ramp Manager - The ramp manager puts cars in proper lanes, works with pit director in staging cars in starting area, and oversees all starting area operations.

Starter - The starter is responsible for starting each race. This person relays the driver's name, car number, and lane to the announcer or finish line time keepers in order to start each race.
